I’m going to try to do a blog post once a day for a while, then maybe do it once every couple days, so I’ll try to talk about whatever comes to mind. Today I’m just going to talk about what I’ve been working on.
Altier was initially meant as a one shot. Just a random story I wrote for NaNoWriMo one year and finished in a different year. It’s actually surprisingly popular and some of the people I talked to felt very broken after the ending and really wanted more. I had kicked around the idea of a sequel for a while, and decided “why not?” So, it’s been my main writing project right now.
The sequel “Hanif” focuses on Hanif after the initial events of Altier and his travels from that point on, into another portion of the continent. I teased the cast last year during Inktober, so for those that follow my art page, I hope you got a good sense for them. Unlike Altier, Hanif’s goal isn’t “to save the world,” but he does his fair share of helping people along the way. His main motive is “save Altier,” so the flow will be quite different, and I’m having fun with it.
Hiyal is one of the new characters that joins the team, and also my personal favorite. She is a Heilanubis priestess who acts as a guide for Hanif in his quest. She sort of takes over the role that Elder Emerian had in the first book, however her methods are quite different, as are her powers.
In the future, I’ll post some teasers of what I have done. I still have a long way to go, but I’m hoping to get it done by the end of this year.
Other than that, I’ve been working on volume 13 of Zos Kias, as well as the next Archive of Sinners book, Envy, and the final book from the Dragon Pillars, Shadow & Light.
What are you looking forward to reading most?
